Spring has sprung! With the warmer weather finally upon us, now is the time to give your home a maintenance inspection to ensure everything is ready - and fresh! - for the coming months.
Indoor Maintenance:
- Inspect and change out HVAC filters (monthly)
- Inspect fire extinguisher for adequate pressure and wear
- Test smoke detectors
- Rotate/flip mattresses/cushions
- Shake out throw carpets, curtains, and tapestries, and hang to air out
- Clean dryer vent and lint hose
- Dust refrigerator coils (unplug first)
- Clean range hood filter
- Dust all interior surfaces
- Wash interior windows
- Vacuum carpets and rugs
- Wax wooden floors and furniture
- Liven up walls with a fresh coat of paint
Outdoor Maintenance:
- Wash outside of windows
- Repair/replace or install window screens
- Clean out gutters and eavestroughs
- Inspect roof for damage/leaks
- Pressure wash house and driveway
- Have air conditioning serviced
- Touch up peeling or damaged paint
- Clear dead plants/shrubs from garden
- Have trees trimmed near power lines
- Fertilize lawn with a kid and pet-friendly fertilizer product
- Clean grill and patio furniture
